In 2009, Pierce County (Tacoma) Washington installed 9000 SSI PTFE disc membranes at their 29 MGD WWTP as a replacement for plain EPDM disc membranes made by another well known American company.

Pierce County reports a .6 PSI drop in pressure across the entire system after installing the SSI PTFE Diffusers. The system pressure dropped from 9.8 to 9.2. They said that typically they need a 500 hp blowers and 1 or 2 150 hp blowers to meet the demand. So far they have only needed the 500 hp blower. He is very happy with the new diffusers and wants them in used in their future expansion.

The City of Alma wastewater plant has been operating SSI’s PTFE coated 12” disc diffusers for almost one year with no problems. We have not had to perform any maintenance on the diffusers and there has been no instances of membrane clogging whatsoever. The PTFE coated diffuser membranes have made all the differences in our aeration basin since installation and we are very satisfied with SSI’s product and would recommend to anyone.

We’re planning to check on membranes later for maintenance. We cannot believe that we have not had to clean them yet. Thank’s for making life easier for the operators at plant and have a great 2007.

Xenia, Ohio, Ford Road WWTP Very Satisfied with SSI Diffusers.

In 2006, the City of Xenia sole sourced SSI for a plant expansion. SSI supplied the original aeration system at the plant in 1997 and that system is still in operation today with the original membranes.

Sara Lee had old ceramic 9″ Sanitaire diffusers ™ and dealt with frequent plugging and cleaning requirements. They have upgraded basin by basin to SSI PTFE fine bubble diffusers over the course of the last 18 months.
