Congratulations to DJ Gongol and Associates (SSI Rep for Iowa and Nebraska) and Environquip Ltda. (SSI Distributor in Brazil) on their recent successful installation of SSI Snappy SaddleTM tube diffusers. The photos below show SSI tube diffusers at Grand Island, Nebraska, and Breneck S.A. Paineis e Serrados (large wood paneling manufacturer), Araucaria, Parana, Brazil. The Grand Island job uses 3″ EPDM tube diffusers, and the Brazil job is with 2″ PTFE tube diffusers.

Incidentally the Grand Island contractor, who had also installed SSI disc diffusers at Denison, Iowa in past years, commented to the plant owner how much easier SSI diffusers are to install than other brands.

We would like to thank all of our representatives throughout the world for their continued activity and sales of SSI aeration systems, fine bubble diffusers, and coarse bubble diffusers. Once in a while, we get an opportunity to show how grateful we are. On Sunday evening, after the first day of WEFTEC, we held a Rep Appreciation Dinner at Morton’s Steakhouse in Chicago for our US and Canadian reps. On Monday evening, we held a dinner for our International representatives who attended the show. Below are some photos of some of the award winners at Sunday night’s dinner. Special congratulations to Drydon Equipment, HRM Environmental, Correct Equipment, Kershner Environmental Technologies, NWT and Jett Pump and Valve on their outstanding sales records.

WEFTEC 2008 was an excellent show for SSI in the sense that we received many serious enquiries from around the country and around the world at the show, particularly related to our PTFE, fEPDM, and Snappy SaddleTM diffused aeration products, but in a general sense the show was less well attended than in previous years. We heard many stories of Engineers who drove themselves to the show because their firms were cutting back on travel and other expenditures this year. Those that attended our booth mostly were working on projects that require fine bubble diffusers or coarse bubble diffusers.

WEFTEC starts Sunday October 19th, 2008 and runs through Wednesday October 22.

SSI work in the Middle East continues at a very fast pace. SSI received a purchase order for another large Saudi WWTP in Jeddah with a well respected local contractor for 45,000 pcs AFD270 fine bubble membrane disc diffusers.

We are honored to announce that Monroe, Michigan has ordered a diffused aeration system from SSI. Our Snappy Saddle TM fine bubble tube diffusers will be installed this fall or winter at the plant.

Many people have the misconception that PTFE coated disc diffusers are only for industrial WWTP’s. It is true that they are useful for industrial WWTP’s and often have spectacular results with them.

North Texas Municipal WWTP (Dallas, TX), Fox Metro WWTP (Aurora, IL), Jeddah North WWTP (Saudi Arabia), Makkah West WWTP (Saudi Arabia), Songnam WWTP (Korea), and many others recognize a simple fact.

It costs more money to drain a basin and change membranes than it does to pay a little bit more for piece of mind and longer membrane life. EPDM doesn’t last forever, and protecting it from premature fouling and ageing not only delays the inevitable and dreaded membrane change, but it also may improve operating efficiency of the aeration system during its useful life.
